About Fuvahmulah
Fuvahmulah, a remote atoll in the southern Maldives, is often described as one of the world’s most extraordinary diving destinations. Unlike the typical Maldivian ring-shaped atolls, Fuvahmulah is a single-island atoll rising directly from the deep ocean, creating unique conditions that attract a spectacular variety of marine life.
It is most famous for its year-round population of tiger sharks, offering divers a rare chance to encounter these majestic animals up close on nearly every dive. Beyond tiger sharks, the island’s waters are home to thresher sharks, hammerheads, oceanic manta rays, mola mola, whale sharks, and massive schools of tuna and barracuda, making it a true “big pelagic” hotspot. The underwater topography is equally impressive, with dramatic drop-offs, steep walls, and vibrant reefs providing a breathtaking backdrop for encounters.
Because the island lies far from other atolls, its reefs are less affected by human activity, remaining healthy and rich in biodiversity. For adventurous divers seeking raw, wild, and unforgettable experiences, Fuvahmulah delivers some of the most thrilling shark dives and pelagic encounters found anywhere on the planet.

Diving in Fuvahmulah
Diving in Fuvahmulah is considered one of the most unique and thrilling underwater experiences in the Maldives and even the world. Unlike other atolls, this single-island atoll rises steeply from the deep ocean, attracting a wide range of large pelagic species and making every dive an adventure.
What sets Fuvahmulah apart is the combination of guaranteed tiger shark encounters and the chance to see other rare species all in one place. Divers are drawn not only to the rich biodiversity but also to the dramatic underwater landscapes of walls, drop-offs, and pristine reefs.
Some of the highlights include: -
Guaranteed tiger shark encounters all year round.
Frequent sightings of pelagic speciessuch as thresher sharks, hammerheads, oceanic manta rays, and whale sharks.
Massive schools of tuna, barracuda, and jackfishcruising the deep blue.
Unique underwater topography with steep walls, drop-offs, and untouched coral gardens.
Healthy reefs with high biodiversity thanks to minimal human impact and strong ocean currents.
Altogether, Fuvahmulah offers divers a raw, wild, and exhilarating experience that combines the thrill of shark diving with the beauty of untouched marine ecosystems.
